This was the strangest Easter ever. Being in quarantine, during a major holiday that brings families together was a very difficult pill for me to swallow but I had to make the best of the situation.
So what did I do?
In true Wardrobe Therapist form, I styled my husband and children as if we were going to church and we celebrated Resurrection Day in our living room. This was important to do because even though we weren’t going anywhere, the act of getting dressed provided a sense of normalcy and anticipation for an experience. It was up to us to create it.
I couldn’t wait to wear this hidden treasure of a vintage dress that I had acquired from a little boutique downtown Brooklyn, called Kimera.
The sweet owner Yvonne, is not only an amazing designer but has an eye for finding the most amazing vintage pieces. I found this one of a kind dress while I was putting together a Wakandan (Black Panther) themed wedding.
This dress is impeccably made. It has so much detail in the construction. It is as heavy as a short women’s wool coat. I’ve worn it to New York Fashion Week when I was pregnant and still looked amazing. That is the secret of having investment empire waist clothing. You’ll get the most out of them and no one will have to know where you are in your weight balancing journey, (whether you’re gaining or losing).
The Huff Post has a list of 18 Online Vintage Stores that you can shop from home. I can’t promise that you’ll find my dress however, I’m looking forward to hearing about what you do find. If you feel overwhelmed and need help finding something, send me an email here and I’ll be more than happy to help.
If you haven’t smiled yet today, check out my “Don’t Rush” challenge, Easter edition. You’ll see how I styled everyone. Disclaimer: cuteness overload. Enjoy!
